GANGA CLEANING CAMPAIGN

Like last year, in the year 2021-2022 also awareness program was organized by the organization at Kahalgaon and Baba Bateshwar Ganga Ghat. In the programme, Mrs. Soni Kumari, Urban Development Officer, Kahalgaon, keeping her views in the program, said that if Ganga was not there, an important part of our country would have been barren and desert. That is why Ganga is the most sacred and important river of North India. River Ganges is also an integral part of Indian culture. The sanctity of Ganga is described in the ancient texts of India such as Vedas, Puranas, Mahabharata etc. Many pilgrimages of India are situated on the banks of the Ganges.

Ganga has great importance for our country. The Ganges River passes through four states of India. These are- Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Bengal. This central part of India is called the ‘plain of the Ganges’. This region is extremely fertile, prosperous and green, the credit of which is only to Ganga. In these states, many industries and businesses related to agricultural produce and based on agriculture are also spread, which not only provide livelihood to lakhs of people, but also increase the national income. Drinking water is also obtained through the Ganges and its canals. It is our first duty to keep the river Ganges clean and pure.

MLAs and public representatives of the area, enlightened citizens, social workers participated in the programme. The students of Ganpat High School and Sharda School presented a street play and cultural presentation. This program was organized under the joint aegis of Shri Gyan Gangotri Vikas Sanstha, Namami Gange, Punjab National Bank, Union Bank of India and Bank of Baroda. This program is being organized by the organization under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, in which the organization makes its best efforts to keep the river Ganga clean and pure, through cleanliness campaign, nukkad nagat, pamphlets, banners, logos, morning rallies, slogans. Efforts will continue to make the public aware. An oath was taken by the citizens of the area that we will cooperate fully in keeping the Ganga clean and pure.

The newly married couple also took oath in the program that they will try their best to create awareness to keep Ganga clean. This program is organized by the organization for seven days and on the last day, the organization ends by performing Ganga Aarti in the evening of Maghi Purnima.
